In 1904, travelers to and from Pittsburgh found themselves at the northernmost city dropoff, the Avalon Loop. To accommodate the traffic, PJ Glaser opened a series of goods stores underneath his Avalon Hotel at 4-6 California Ave, allowing travelers a place to rest & escape the city.

Today, 4-6 California lives on, providing both Rest as permanent residences, and Escape, launching The Avalon shared office space for the local community. Individuals and small teams are invited to The Avalon as a professional community space to flourish, just outside city limits.
